Okay so, two questions...

Gfx card operating temps
Last night after about a solid 5 hours of Guildwars I checked my Winfast A400 Leadtek 6800GT (Stock; Un-overclocked) and it was running at 70c-72c is this safe, or should I mix up my fans?
- 2x 80mm frontside blowing in
- 1x 80mm rear blowing out
- 1x 80mm side blowing in
- 2x 80mm in psu 1 blowing in 1 blowing out
How do i find my operating temp of my processor (AMD3000+ 64-bit) without doing it through bios; are there programs, etc.?

The graphic cards temp is fine mate, graphic cards run alot hotter than cpu's

As for cpu temp, try motherboard monitor, google for it, and it's free

Also what motherboard are you using, because some manufacturers have their own monitoring programs

I figured as much about the Card..
And it's a Gigabyte Mobo.
I'll try and google a program when i get home (I'm at work).

If you could tell me, is there a list of normal/stress temps somewhere listed?

most motherboards these days come with applications that monitor your sensors....but if for some reason yours didn't you could try one of the following

Motherboard Monitor:

Not exactly user friendly and a tad overwhelming at first..but once you have it set up it runs/works beautifully. MBM 5

Speedfan:

no setup...completely user friendly. I have 0 experience using it. SpeedFan

As far as your temperature is concerned 72C is about 161F...no piece of hardware should be running this hot...check to make sure your GPU fan is working properly...also check to make sure your airflow has a constant stream of in-out.

But as a point of refernce.. it lists the default warning threshold as 126c in the 77.72 Nvidia drivers' Temperature monitoring tab

you won't experience trouble in the short run at the temps you are running...technically they are OK for a video card. But hardware shouldn't be running at 161F...even if they were built to withstand it. Video Cards do run hotter than CPUs so temps in the 70's aren't necessarily bad...but if you can free up some space around your card and improve airflow the card will last alot longer.(just to clarify...I posted too soon and didn't mention that you aren't in immediate danger running those temps)

I'd figured it wasn't exacly going to blow up on me :P, yet you could be right, it is quite crowded near my card being that it's giagantic.

It's about 2 inches short of my HD.

It's got a winfast fan with a plastic case; should i take the case off?

leadtek cards don't have the greatest cooling. I buy BFG Cards and then remove the GPU Sink and replace it with a ThermalTake Extreme Giant....for 35 bucks it's well worth the money....I wouldn't suggest taking the fan casing off though...I don't know what it would do but the case is probably there to keep dust out.

I had thought that Winfast was a seperate company, specializing in cooling, which supplied Leadtek with their fans to put onto their GPU's... Turns out I was wrong, heh.

I'm starting to regret going Leadtek, as I'm a huge BFG fan... but you cant beat a 6800GT 256MB for $275. I've heard they OC pretty well but I haven't tried yet.

I wouldn't even know how to install that damn cooler haha...
